It is a legal requirement that your tyres must have a thread depth with a minimum of 1.6mm throughout, but it is advisable to replace your tyres if below 3mm tread depth. You should regularly inspect your tyres for any wear, bulges or damage to prevent any blow outs during driving especially at speed.
Some vehicles have run flat tyres, this enables the vehicle to be driven a short distance if it has a puncture or when flat, the vehicle must not be driven in excess of 30mph and only a short distance. Tyres should always be inflated correctly as over inflation can cause excess wear as can under inflation as well as increased fuel consumption.
